The end of a long painful road came to an end yesterday when the team cut linebacker Dan Cody. The move was made to open a roster spot for Marques Douglas who the Ravens acquired in a trade with Tampa. I have to say that this was a day I was hoping didn’t come. There are [...]

The team didn’t waste time replacing the injured Dwan Edwards. Earlier today they brought back defensive end Marques Douglas in a trade with Tampa Bay. The Bucs will receive a late round pick next year and a conditional pick in 2010. Baltimore will also pick up the four year $10.1 million contract he signed with Tampa.
In other [...]

The team made five cuts today to move under the required 75 man roster limit. The most shocking of the bunch is Dwan Edwards going on the IR. He looked great last year filling in for Trevor Pryce who missed games with numerous injuries. There isn’t much information being released by the team but the Ravens website [...]

Rams 24 Ravens 10
Ok Ravens fans, it’s officially time to panic! I know I know – “It’s preseason and the games don’t matter”. That’s a great theory when you are the Patriots and will roll through another year with all of your pieces in place for another title run. This my friends is the 2008 [...]

With a game in St Louis quickly approaching, the team is finally getting some good news on the injury and hold out fronts.
Sizzle reported to camp as expected and looks to be in good shape but not quite “football shape” according to Harbaugh. He should see limited action in the remaining preseason games and will be there for [...]

Vikings 23 Ravens 15
This game was fairly painful to watch for Ravens fans. Injuries continue to keep numerous starters on the sidelines and with a few exceptions, it was a pretty sad effort.
Positives
Ray Rice, Ray Rice and Ray Rice – The rookie had 77 yards on 8 carries including a beautiful 48 yard run. The [...]

A source has told The Baltimore Sun that Terrell Suggs will sign the one year $8.5 million tender and report to camp Sunday. He should see time in the third preseason game against St Louis. Apparently Suggs wants to have a week of practice and one preseason game under his belt before the season starts. After [...]

The preseason flurry of activity has begun for the Ravens.
Additions
Lorenzo Neal – I love this move! The four time Pro-Bowler was cut by the Chargers earlier this year after being the league’s highest paid fullback. It also reunites him with Cam Cameron, the two spent four years together in San Diego. This shows a commitment [...]

From time to time I plan on having guest writers appear on The Purple Reign to offer a little different perspective on what’s going on with the team. Up first is Neil Sussman. Here’s a little about our left coast Ravens fan.
Neil Sussman may live in sunny Los Angeles, but that only makes him the West Coast’s biggest Ravens [...]
