What’s up Ravenstown! Big Steve here to give you his memorable moments from week 1 of the 2008 tailgating season for Baltimore Ravens football!
It was great to finally get back to Lot O for a Ravens regular season game. I just want to thank my parents, who without them this wouldn’t be possible. Their generosity of obtaining this parking spot again allows us to be with family and friends! Thanks again guys! Here are some memorable moments from this week:
The first beer at 8:30 am: Is there anything better? There isn’t anything more wonderful this world, other than a nacho cheese fountain with six different kinds of cheeses, than to crack open that can of Miller Lite at 8:30 am and not soon after being approached by a priest with a brochure asking you to attend a “meeting”. Once you arrive and step out into the parking lot and smell the sweet aroma of brats in the morning, you grab that can from the cooler and reach way down in the ice to get it, place it gentley in your Matt Kenseth coozie, crack that sucker open and go to town! It’s pure Heaven! Then 10 minutes later I had another one, which was just as good as the first.
Brody and Carson: Now I know that it’s a bit of pain to have kids at a tailgate with a bunch of adults. But those kids will have memories that will last a lifetime. Brody took a while to warm up, but once he had some apple juice and Cheetos from Aunt Bee and Big Steve, he was ready to party. He gave us a big thumbs up yelling “JOE FLACCO” before he left with his grandparents to go home.
Carson dancing to the iPod: This was so funny. Carson started bopping up and down, smiling and laughing on his Grandmother’s lap when a good song would come on the iPod. That my godson!
Seeing Big Larry and his crew: The man dresses like he’s going to a NASCAR race (cut off jean shorts, tank top and a fu-man-chu). He’s got Dena written all over him.
Meeting Sports Steve and Jonathan Ogden: Two great men! Sports Steve I’ve wanted to meet for a long time. It was brief, but long enough that I’ll never forget. The man hasn’t missed a Baltimore football home game since 1957, and we are proud to have him as our Super Fan.
J.O is a class act and makes me look like Spud Webb standing next to him. Didn’t get a picture or an autograph, but he took time to talk to me about his career, the game, and what hotel he’ll be staying at in 2013 in Canton, OH. Thanks again guys!
The Coleman Road Trip Grill: Dad and I saw this beautiful piece of grilling heaven at Dick’s in August. Dad saved up all his gift cards over the holidays to buy this thing. With the seal of approval from Mom, he bought it and let me tell you, this things burns so smooth and even and really made those fajitas taste great(thanks George and Jeannine). If this thing had a skirt and a rich father, I’d marry the damn thing (just kidding honey!).
The Ray Lewis Dance: It’s back and gets the crowd fired up!
Total Domination: 358 yards on offense with 200+ yards rushing, 154 yards allowed by the defense, excellent clock management by Joe Flacco, and some trickery, tom-foolery if you will, by the Ravens offense….typical Ravens football baby!!
Now there are not many bad memories at a tailgate except one:
Vag Mooch: Listen up dude! I’m so tired of you coming to our tailgate and contributing nothing. You brought four beers with you Sunday…FOUR BEERS!! I drank four beers in an hour, you really think four beers is gonna hold you all day? And you have the audacity to come to me and say this…”oh no I’m outta beer!”….WTF dude?! Just like I told you, bring more or go and get some $2 Coors Lights! Then you take some of our food? What did you contribute besides yourself and your ”super-cool” purple goatee that engulfs half your face? Don’t come by unless you contribute or bring more beer!
What a fantastic game in Baltimore. Can’t wait for the next tailgate in two weeks. It’s a 4:15 game, that means more time for some misbehavin’! Until next time…GO RAVENS! BEAT HOUSTON!
Are they still the Oilers? No there the Stars right? Man, Houston has more name changes than Prince I can’t keep track anymore!
