Ravens saftey Ed Reed has been nominated for the GMC Sierra NFL Defensive Player of the Week. This is the third time a member of the Baltimore Ravens has been nominated for this award. The other two nominees, Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs, won the awards for their stellar performances to secure Ravens victories.
Ed Reed is nominated for this award thanks to his record setting performance in Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Last Sunday, Ed Reed secured two interceptions for 151 total return yards. His first interception was returned for 46 yards down to the 6 yard line and helped set up a Ravens touchdown. His second was a NFL record 108 yard interception return for a touchdown, a record that was previously held by Reed that was set in 2004 against the Cleveland Browns on a Sunday Night game.
